In a fight, you need an opponent to win. You need an opponent to lose. To claim victory, or to admit defeat. In a fight, punches must have somewhere to land, or else they aren't punches at all. You will be left swinging wildly into the air, accomplishing nothing except to exhaust your own self. When there is no one to fight, there is no fight. No prize, no victor, no loser. No injuries to treat, no scar to remind of the day such a fight was fought. Nothing to fight for. Just an emptiness from which to walk away. No grand gesture, no celebration, no consolation. Give me someone to fight. Give me something to fight for.
